Scribbist Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026
Scribbist is a handwriting calculator. You write sums with your finger or a stylus and the app works out the answer on your device. This policy explains what happens to your information.
The short version
- No account, no sign-in, no ads, no tracking.
- Your handwriting, sums and history stay on your device. We never receive them.
- Handwriting recognition runs on your device using Google ML Kit. Google's ML Kit software may send Google basic diagnostic information (described below).
What stays on your device
Your writing, the readings and answers, your history (including names and favourites), and your settings (pen thickness, degrees or radians) are stored only on your device. Deleting the app deletes them. If you choose to share a page as an image, text or a CSV file, it goes only where you send it.
Handwriting recognition (Google ML Kit)
The first time you open Scribbist it downloads Google's handwriting model (about 13 MB) once. After that, recognition runs offline on your device and your handwriting is not sent anywhere.
Google's ML Kit software may send Google diagnostic and usage information, such as device and app information, performance information, and the recognition language in use. Google says this data is encrypted in transit and is not shared with third parties. See Google's ML Kit data disclosure and Google's Privacy Policy.
Payments
Scribbist is a one-time purchase handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We do not receive your payment details.
Children
Scribbist does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
